With the lodge serving as your home base, a number of activities are available. The virgin sands of Gavilan beach await you, and the natural pool appearing at low tide will refresh you.
A mile and a half away from the lodge lies the small fishing village of El Astillero : the inhabitants will win your hearts with easy smiles and a warm welcome. Above all, don't miss the fisherman's return from sea in their pangas (local fishing vessels), filled with all sorts of delicacies from the local waters. We have excellent relations with the local fishermen, and if you would like, we can arrange half-days or entire days of fishing with them.
Nature lovers will marvel at the enormous diversity of the local fauna and flora. The Chacocente nature reserve is the sea turtles only spot for reproduction on earth. From August to October, the beaches are visited by thousands of tortoises depositing their eggs. The reserve is filled with monkeys, tapirs, rainbow parrots, and you may be lucky enough to spot the guardabarranco bird, the symbol of Nicaragua.
