Creating a dream

Las Plumerias was founded by Etienne and Emeline, two French surfers charmed by Nicaragua’s waves and way of life. Wanting to share this incredible experience with others passionate about surfing in an unspoiled environment, they built Las Plumerias in 2008. They have hosted guests from around the world, introducing them to their new home and favorite waves.

In 2016, global citizens Stefan and Santa began managing the lodge and immediately fell in love with the location and Las Plumerias. Having traveled and worked around the world, they recognized the spirit and authenticity of Nicaragua. When the opportunity arose in 2020 for Etienne and Emeline to pass the torch, Santa & Stefan chose Las Plumerias as their dream home to grow their family.

Repeat guests and good friends Philippe (Fifi) and Jerome (Jeje) fell under Las Plumerias’ spell in 2009 and dreamed of making it their home as well. They became fixtures at the lodge, buying land nearby in 2015, and became fast friends with Stefan and Santa. One evening, over a barbecue and a few bottles of wine, ideas were hatched for how best to carry on Las Plumerias’ legacy once Etienne and Emeline retired. Early in 2020, when the opportunity presented itself, Stefan, Fifi, Jeje, and longtime friend Paul, rose to the occasion.

Following a full refurbishment, Las Plumerias 2.0 re-opened on November 1, 2021. It carries on a long tradition of creating unforgettable friendships while putting guests in the lineup with smiles on their faces.

Minimise waste

We ask all of our guests to bring their own water bottles to minimize the amount of plastic we consume. When possible we choose products that come in recyclable or refillable containers.

About the Team

Teamspirit

We are proud to count our staff members as part of our family. The majority of them have been on the Plumerias team since the beginning. You’ll get to meet Maura, our chef, and Erika, our multi talented breakfast cook and pastry chef. Francisco is our sous chef and Gladys is our housekeeper. Cristino is our gardener extraordinaire. Lester and Walmer are our nighttime security. Our two multilingual surf coaches, who are qualified with ISA or the French Brevet d’Etat, will guide you throughout your stay.

Local & Homemade

Fresh Food

All of our food is homemade and our ingredients are locally sourced. Just wait until you try Erika’s famous jam! We have the freshest fruits and vegetables delivered to our doorstep. Our meat comes from a nearby ranch, our chickens kindly provide our morning eggs, and Our seafood comes directly from El Astillero, a fishing village 4 km away.
